I grew up in the ‘60’s where I found a special resonance with folk music. My passion for it has played a key part in my role in helping keep folk music alive in Central New Jersey. I was the founder and head of the Folk Music Club of East Brunswick for over 25 years, a member of the folk duo “The End of the Line” which played local clubs in the ‘80’s, and the substitute DJ for WRSU’s Sunday folk show “Home Made Music” for over 30 years.
For the past several years I have been an instructor for OLLI-RU (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rutgers University) in both their Highland Park and Freehold campuses. I conduct courses on my two passions – folk music and comedy. I run two courses on The Folk Music Revival: Behind the Artists and their Songs as well as three courses on 20th Century Comedians. All the courses provide background information about the artists and a sampling of their material.
Early in 2016, the Advisory Council for OLLI-RU advised me that I was chosen for the Marlene M. Pomper Award for Teaching Excellence.
